President Nick J. Bruno

Welcome to the University of Louisiana Monroe!

Lotus 'Elodie' stiletto heel patent slingbacks Navy high Since my appointment as the eighth president of ULM in the Fall of 2010, I have heard from countless friends and supporters who reinforce my belief that this university is on the precipice of one of the most exciting phases in its 83-year history.

We are poised as never before to advance our mission and offer an excellent education, not only to the region and citizens of Louisiana, but also well beyond the state’s geographic boundaries.

Whether coming to us after graduation from a traditional high school, or returning to finish a degree that was started years ago using one of our many online programs, I am sure you will find not only a quality academic environment, but one in which you will be treated as family.

Maybe you are an international student eager to learn in an American university, or a community college student seeking a transfer to a four-year university – whatever the reason for your visit, we welcome you and invite you to make ULM your home away from home!

We all know that in order to fully embrace our future, we must also never forget to celebrate our past, and what an amazing past we have had at ULM.

Even as our beautiful 238-acre campus continues to grow along the banks of Bayou DeSiard, our campus community continues traditions that began decades ago to promote our academic, social, and cultural lives together.

With a Fall 2015 enrollment of 8,854 students, you will find friendly staff ready to serve you and exceptional faculty willing to provide individualized attention, while also offering an array of challenging opportunities. ULM prides itself in the rigor of its academic programs.

Some of our academic highlights include a new degree offering from ULM’s School of Pharmacy. The Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences will provide a competitive advantage to students who choose to work in pharmaceutical sales, government regulatory affairs, and more.

ULM's Department of Toxicology has developed a new certification program focused on occupational health, which is a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Occupational Health, Safety, and Toxicology.

Accounting and auditing will be among the fastest-growing occupations by 2018, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. To meet that need, ULM's College of Business and Social Sciences launched a new program, a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting that will empower professionals to benefit from these expanding fields.

In addition, ULM's College of Arts, Education, and Sciences, joined by Fortune 500 companies, unveiled the ULM President's Academy—a career-oriented summer program for high-ability high school juniors and seniors throughout Louisiana, and the regions of Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

ULM's Biology Department, in the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences, scored three first place wins in a competition among 32 other institutions at the 86th Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Academy of Sciences. In a joint agreement with both the College of Arts, Education and Sciences and the School of Pharmacy, Pennington Biomedical Research Center has collaborated with ULM pharmacy and gerontology faculty to research Alzheimer’s and other life-threatening health issues.

Programs within the College of Health Sciences have a consistent 100 percent pass rate on licensure examinations. These programs include Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Radiologic Technology, and Medical Laboratory Science.

Albert Einstein said, “No problem can be solved by the same consciousness that created it. We need to see the world anew.” We are adapting to the changing environment of higher education in a global market.

I am confident this university will continue to produce high quality graduates who contribute to society at every level, and I extend to you a personal invitation to #TakeFlight at ULM!
